Free Materials Shelf - We have been collecting all types of classroom materials such as coffee cans, egg cartons, plastic containers, packing materials, and boxes. If you need any material for a classroom project, come check out our supply. If you have any such materials that you would like to donate for others to use, drop them off or call us to arrange for a pick-up.

Poster Printers - Our three poster printers allow users to enlarge a document, chart, diagram or other text to poster size. Our newest machine even allows for the use of color! These posters can be hot or cold laminated for longer use. There is a nominal fee for making a poster, depending on type.

Laminators - Our laminating equipment has grown to include 18 inch and 25 inch hot laminators and 8 inch and 23 inch cold laminators. Laminating using the hot process continues to be free, but there is a 75 cents per yard charge for cold laminating.

Art Waxer - This new machine coats the back of a document with a waxy material that allows it to stick to a wall or other surface. Items that are small or large can be coated with this machine.

Ellison Letter/Shape Cutters - Not only have we added another ellison cutting machine, but we have also expanded our die collection. Bring your own materials (paper, foam, tag board or felt), to cut items for your bulletin boards, your math manipulatives center, or any special classroom project. Book Binder - This machine, available in many elementary schools, allows teachers to put together class books of their student's work using a spiral binding system. There is a nominal fee for materials depending on size of book.

Button Maker – This electronic machine allows you to easily create buttons for classroom use at 25 cents per button.

Color Copier – You are able to make a limited number of color copies at 50 cents per page.

Other Services

Professional Library - We have a large collection of professional materials including books and videos. View and search the collection online at SCSD Library Links You can also just drop in and browse. Items can be borrowed at no charge for a period of three weeks.

Software Library - Our software library contains not only site licenses for MECC and Scholastic software, but also an extensive lending library of both Apple and Macintosh software. Come in and browse our shelves, try some titles in our computer lab or order by phone or mail.

Joseph P. Schramm Educational Technology Center - Our computer laboratory, renamed on December 10, 1999 in honor of the Syracuse Teacher Center's first director, currently has computers connected directly to the internet. They can be used to develop classroom materials or to search for appropriate classrooms items. We have recently added videoconferencing and teleconferencing equipment. These will allow us to offer distance learning. If you are interested in a specific teleconferenced event or would like to make arrangements to use the videoconferencing equipment, call us. We will be scheduling more events of this type in the near future.

Notary Public -We have a notary public on staff. There is no charge to Syracuse City School District employees for this service.
